Leonardo Aerospace

As a global hi-tech company and leader in aerospace, defence and security, Leonardo opens the door to so many career opportunities.

We are strongly committed to supporting our people, and as times, people and society change, our approach to inclusion and diversity (I&D) is continually evolving to reflect this. We know that having a variety of people from different backgrounds, cultures and approaches can and does enhance our working environment. Such a workplace fosters mutual respect amongst colleagues and allows each individual to bring their whole self to work and perform at their best. Furthermore, a culture of inclusion creates an environment for greater collaboration, innovation and opportunities to develop as an organisation.

All this makes Leonardo a great place to work.

Accreditations

As part of Leonardo’s commitment, we are working with and accredited by many organisations and initiatives who share our vision for diversity spanning ethnicity, disability, equality, sexuality, wellbeing and care

Network Groups

These external accreditations and certifications are supplemented by our employee-led network groups (including one dedicated to ethnicity inclusion), which are driving our belief that everyone is different and that this difference matters.

From the moment someone joins Leonardo, each person is given a warm welcome by these groups as we strive to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. The six network groups provide forums for like-minded people and their allies to come together, help shape engagement, and lead associated educational initiatives to raise awareness and deliver an inclusive and consistent experience for all our people in the UK.

Careers for all levels

Working at Leonardo opens up a world of opportunities. We offer jobs across our seven UK sites, covering a variety of roles at all levels – from interns and apprentices to highly qualified professionals – including engineers, cyber security experts, programme and project managers, business analysts, finance and marketing experts, and many more.

Flexible working

At Leonardo, we believe that our employees work best when they are able to achieve balance between work and other aspects of life. That is why we have designed policies and developed a working environment that collectively promote the benefits and wellbeing of all our employees.

From the very earliest stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, Leonardo UK made fast and dramatic changes to keep our people safe and our business operating. A core part of this has been our move to ‘Custom Working’ which offers our people a choice about how and where they work.

This provides the opportunity to work together as part of a team regardless of location, while also being considerate of personal circumstances. Essentially, it means that all our people have the time and flexibility they need to enjoy a balanced life.

We also have an extensive benefits package, which includes a company-funded flexible benefits plan that allows employees to make choices appropriate for their individual requirements, and a salary sacrifice scheme to buy a brand-new electric car.

Professional development

Leonardo’s growth in the UK has resulted from the skills, energy and dedication of our people. We are committed to equal opportunity and offering personal fulfilment through the highest quality education and development.

We are always looking to reinforce our competitive position in the UK and our international markets. To meet this challenge, we offer an environment for qualified people with the will to succeed and a passion for engineering excellence to fulfil their potential and enable our company to stay at the forefront of innovation and technology.

This is reflected in our Women’s Development Programme, Springboard, which is for those who want to enhance their own skills and abilities, and challenge power and equality, while building confidence, assertiveness and a positive image at work and at home. It is open to women from all backgrounds, ages and stages of their lives, and offers the time to reflect, share and most importantly, set achievable goals for now and the future.

In light of the success of the Springboard programme, Leonardo is now trialling the Navigator development programme for men who are looking to identify practical and realistic steps to fulfil their potential. It encourages participants to examine their home and work life, in order to build new ways of seeing themselves and addressing how they respond to difficult situations and to the people they interact with. Ultimately, Navigator enables participants to manage any challenges they face with a greater degree of confidence.

These programmes and many others alongside them reflect our commitment to supporting our people at Leonardo to succeed.
